How to Hold Space for Yourself

Too often we get caught in the pull of life, the things we have to do, trying to meet others expectations or requirements of us without honouring the way in which we truely feel or what truely matters most to us.

By holding space for yourself you are treating yourself with the same kindness + compassion you treat the people you love most with.

Taking time to regularly check in with yourself is a gateway to self awareness, building + nurturing a relationship with yourself.

The most important relationship of all.

Remind yourself as often as you need to that taking time for yourself is not selfish.

Holding Space for Yourself is as simple as:

Spend some time having a self check in,

ask yourself + answer truthfully:

How am I feeling physically, emotionally, energetically?

What would make life feel easier right now?

With this knowledge realign + reassess your goals, as well as your current daily habits.

What do you want more of in your life + what do you want less of?

Know how you want to feel + commit to helping yourself feel that way.

Commit to just 15 minutes (to start with)

to yourself for your physical, mental, emotional wellbeing.

Walks, journalling, meditation, yoga, naps, are the simplest starting points.

Limit the information coming at you throughout the day + consume mindfully.

turn off phone notifications, stay off social media till you have done something for yourself first, read books, rather than watch shows, spend time alone.

Get truely comfortable with saying no to the people you love + not having to be everything to everyone all the time.

This step takes a lot of practice so start small as you get more comfortable + confident.

Know that you are deserving of this time + dedication to yourself.

Treat yourself like you would treat someone you love + love yourself the same.
