Rooted in the traditions of Taoist philosophy and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Qigong offers an ancient self-healing practice, while Yin yoga adds an extra layer of depth to this transformative journey.
The essence of Qigong can be understood by two components. “Qi” – the vital energy that pervades all living things; and “Gong” – ‘the benefits acquired through perseverance and practice’.
Qigong holds the understanding that we are infinitely connected with nature and the natural world around us. Its practice helps us return in flow with nature and bring balance and harmony to our mind, body, and spirit.
Yin yoga compliments the Qigong practice by drawing you into a meditative exploration of your body’s inner landscape. The longer held poses in Yin allow you to sink into each posture targeting deep connective tissue and opening of the meridian channels allowing for deeper nourishment and free flow of Qi.
In this workshop, Sheena will carefully guide you through a curated sequence of Qigong and Yin yoga postures aimed to cultivate and harness the vision and expansive energies of Spring and the Wood element. You will also be guided through a meditation practice providing opportunity to reflect on and let go of any blockages halting your growth.
Spring is represented by the element of Wood and is associated with an expansive, upward moving energy. The energy of new growth, strength, flexibility, and transformation.
The Wood element is associated with the Liver and Gallbladder organs.
Physically, these organs regulate the health of our eyes, ligaments, tendons, and blood. Energetically, these organs represent our vision and planning and our motivation to fulfill our dreams.
The practice will stimulate and open the meridians of the Liver and Gallbladder to promote a harmonious flow of Qi in the body, restore balance and release any blockages or stagnation. It will also offer postures which create space and lubrication in the body, joints, ligaments, and facia to cultivate a sense of softness, flexibility and strength.
All levels are welcome!
Attendees are encouraged to wear something green to elevate the healing and transformative qualities of Wood element.
